Plan To Recruit J-QAF Teachers For Secondary Schools
KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 17 (Bernama) -- Malaysian undergraduates in Egypt and Jordan will be encouraged to become Jawi, al-Quran, Arabic and obligatory practice (J-QAF) teachers upon graduation.
Minister in the Prime Minister's Department Maj-Gen (R) Datuk Jamil Khir Baharom said this was part of efforts to introduce J-QAF in secondary schools following its success in primary schools since it was launched in 2005.
"The government had to defer a plan to introduce J-QAF subjects in secondary schools due to lack of qualified teachers.
"So we are going to hold roadshows in Egypt and Jordan to woo Malaysian undergraduates there to serve as J-QAF teachers upon their graduation," he told reporters after opening the Assimilation of Islamic Values in the Health Practice here Saturday.
He said the J-QAF programme would be implemented with the cooperation of the Higher Education Ministry and the Education Ministry.
On the seminar, he said Muslims must deepen their knowledge on medical science to relive the golden era of the Islamic civilisation.
He said the contribution of Muslim scientists now was a pale shadow to that of Islamic scholars like Ibnu Sina.
The seminar organised by the Islamic Hospital Consortium of Malaysia would be a step in the right direction towards reliving the glorious era of the Muslim medical science scholars, he added.
